അട്ടപ്പാടി: ചെടിയുടെ തലപ്പത്തിരിക്കുന്ന പൂവാലൻ തുമ്പി, ചിറകുകളിൽ നിറങ്ങളുടെ ആകാശനീല പുരട്ടി തേൻ കുടിക്കുന്ന ശലഭം, മേഞ്ഞുനടക്കുന്ന ആട്ടിൻകൂട്ടം, പേരറിഞ്ഞതും അറിയാത്തതുമായ ഒരുപാട് പൂക്കൾ... അട്ടപ്പാടിയുടെ പ്രകൃതിയിലെ ഈ സുന്ദര നിമിഷങ്ങൾ പകർത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത് പ്ലസ്ടു വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയായ ഒരു ആദിവാസി ബാലൻ. ക്യാമറയ്ക്ക് പകരം കൈയിലുള്ളത് വെറും ഒരു മൊബൈൽ ഫോൺ. പക്ഷേ ആ ക്യാമറക്കണ്ണിലൂടെ പിറക്കുന്നത് വിസ്മയക്കാഴ്ചകൾ.
അട്ടപ്പാടി പുതൂരിലെ ഗവൺമെന്റ് ട്രൈബൽ വൊക്കേഷണൽ ഹയർ സെക്കൻഡറി സ്കൂളിലെ എംഐടി (മൈക്രോ ഇറിഗേഷൻ ടെക്നീഷ്യൻ) രണ്ടാം വർഷ വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയായ ഗോകുൽ എം ആണ് ഈ ചിത്രങ്ങൾക്ക് പിന്നിൽ.
ഗോകുലിന്റെ കൈയിലുള്ളത് ₹8,000 കൊടുത്ത് സെക്കൻഡ് ഹാൻഡായി വാങ്ങിയ ഫോൺ. കൃത്യമായി പറഞ്ഞാൽ POCO C50. ഒരു സാധാരണ ഫോൺ. എന്നാൽ ഈ ഫോണിന്റെ ക്യാമറയിലൂടെ ഗോകുൽ കാണുന്നത് അസാധാരണമായ കാഴ്ചകളാണ്.
പൂക്കളെയും മൃഗങ്ങളെയും ചിത്രീകരിക്കാനാണ് ഗോകുലിന് ഏറെ ഇഷ്ടം. മൊബൈലിലെ മാക്രോ ലെൻസിന്റെ സഹായത്തോടെ ചെറിയ പ്രാണികളെയും പൂക്കളെയും വളരെ അടുത്തുനിന്ന് പകർത്തുന്നു. ഒരേ കാഴ്ചയുടെ നിരവധി ചിത്രങ്ങൾ എടുക്കും. അതിൽ ഏറ്റവും മികച്ചത് മാത്രം തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത് ബാക്കിയുള്ളവ ഒഴിവാക്കും. ലൈറ്റ് റൂം എന്ന ആപ്പിലെ ക്യാമറയും ഗോകുലിന്റെ സഹായിയാണ്.
"എനിക്ക് പൂക്കളെയും മൃഗങ്ങളെയും ഷൂട്ട് ചെയ്യുന്നത് ഇഷ്ടമാണ്. ഒന്നിന്റെ തന്നെ കുറേ ഫോട്ടോ എടുക്കും. പിന്നീട് ഒന്ന് മാത്രം നിർത്തി ബാക്കി കളയും," ഗോകുൽ പറയുന്നു.
ഫോട്ടോഗ്രാഫർമാർ ഗോൾഡൻ അവർ എന്ന് വിളിക്കുന്ന സായാഹ്നത്തിന്റെ പൊൻപ്രഭയിൽ പകർത്തിയ അട്ടപ്പാടിയിലെ വിദൂര ഊരുകളുടെ മനോഹര ചിത്രങ്ങളും ഗോകുലിന്റെ ശേഖരത്തിലുണ്ട്.
തമിഴ്നാടിനോടടുത്തുകിടക്കുന്ന മുള്ളിയിലാണ് ഗോകുലിന്റെ വീട്. മകന്റെ പഠനസൗകര്യത്തിനായി അച്ഛൻ മണികണ്ഠനും അമ്മ ലതയും സ്കൂൾ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന മൂലക്കൊമ്പിൽ വാടകയ്ക്ക് താമസിക്കുകയാണ്. കുടുംബത്തിലെ എല്ലാവരും സാധാരണ കൂലിത്തൊഴിലാളികൾ. വസന്ത് സഹോദരനാണ്.
പ്രകൃതിയോടുള്ള ഇഷ്ടം ചെറുപ്പം മുതലേ ഗോകുലിനുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. മൊബൈലും ഇന്റർനെറ്റും പരിചിതമായതോടെ ആ ഇഷ്ടം കൂടുതൽ വളർന്നു. സ്വയം പഠിച്ചും ഇന്റർനെറ്റിലൂടെ അറിവ് നേടിയുമാണ് ഗോകുൽ ഫോട്ടോഗ്രഫിയിൽ മുന്നേറുന്നത്.
വെറും നൂറിലേറെ ചിത്രങ്ങൾ പോസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള ഗോകുലിന്റെ "kutty.6733" എന്ന ഇൻസ്റ്റാഗ്രാം അക്കൗണ്ടിന് പതിനേഴായിരത്തിലേറെ ഫോളോവേഴ്സുണ്ട്. പല രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ഫോട്ടോഗ്രാഫർമാരും ഗോകുലിനെ പിന്തുടരുന്നവരിലുണ്ട്.
ഗോകുലിന്റെ ചിത്രങ്ങൾ കണ്ടാണ് സ്കൂൾ പ്രിൻസിപ്പൽ മറിയ സ്കൂൾ മുറ്റത്ത് ഫോട്ടോ എക്സിബിഷൻ ഒരുക്കിയത്. പ്രദർശനത്തിലെ ചിത്രങ്ങൾ കണ്ട മന്ത്രി എൻ. ഷംസുദ്ദീനും ഗോകുലിനെ അഭിനന്ദിച്ചു.

അട്ടപ്പാടിയുടെ മലനിരകളിലും ഊരുകളിലും വിരിയുന്ന കാഴ്ചകളെ ഒരു മൊബൈൽ ക്യാമറയിലൂടെ ലോകത്തിന് മുന്നിലെത്തിക്കുകയാണ് ഈ ബാലൻ. കൈയിൽ വിലകൂടിയ ക്യാമറയില്ലെങ്കിലും കണ്ണിൽ കാണുന്ന കാഴ്ചകളെ ഫ്രെയിമിലാക്കാനുള്ള കഴിവുണ്ട്. ആ കഴിവിന് ശരിയായ പിന്തുണ ലഭിച്ചാൽ ഗോകുലിന്റെ ക്യാമറക്കണ്ണുകൾ ഇനിയും വലിയ ലോകം കാണും.

These beautiful moments from the natural surroundings of Attappadi have been captured by a tribal boy studying in Plus Two. His camera is not an expensive professional device, but a simple mobile phone. Yet, through its lens, he captures extraordinary sights.
Meet Gokul M, a second-year MIT (Micro Irrigation Technician) student at Government Tribal Vocational Higher Secondary School, Pudur, Attappadi. He is the photographer behind these remarkable images.
Gokul uses a second-hand POCO C50 smartphone, purchased for ₹8,000. An ordinary phone, but through its camera, Gokul sees extraordinary moments.
He is particularly interested in photographing flowers and animals. With the help of the mobile phone’s macro lens, he captures tiny insects and flowers from close range. He takes several photographs of the same subject and selects only the best one, deleting the rest. The camera in the Lightroom app is also one of his photography tools.
“I like shooting flowers and animals. I take several photos of the same subject. Later, I keep only one and delete the rest,” says Gokul.
His collection also includes beautiful photographs of remote tribal settlements in Attappadi, captured in the golden glow of the evening, popularly known among photographers as the golden hour.
Gokul’s home is in Mulliyil, near the Tamil Nadu border. To support their son’s education, his father Manikandan and mother Latha have rented a house in Moolakkombu, where the school is located. Everyone in the family works as daily wage labourers. Gokul has a brother, Vasanth.
Gokul’s love for nature began at a young age. As he became familiar with mobile phones and the internet, his interest grew further. He has been developing his photography skills through self-learning and knowledge gained from the internet.
Despite having posted just over a hundred photographs, Gokul’s Instagram account, “kutty.6733,” has more than 17,000 followers. Photographers from several countries are among those who follow him.
It was after seeing Gokul’s photographs that school principal Maria arranged a photo exhibition on the school premises. Minister N. Shamseer also appreciated Gokul after viewing the photographs at the exhibition.
Gokul dreams of becoming a wildlife photographer. He wants the world to see the sights he captures through his own eyes. But from a remote village in Kerala, he wonders whether that dream will ever become a reality.
Through a simple mobile phone camera, this young photographer is bringing the beauty of Attappadi’s hills and tribal settlements before the world. He may not have an expensive camera in his hands, but he possesses the ability to frame the beauty he sees. With the right support, Gokul’s camera eyes could explore a much bigger world.
